Jumbo Supermarkets is the largest supermarket chain in the Netherlands, with over 725 stores across the country. In 2024, the company began setting up an in-house design team to streamline their branding and marketing processes. However, with the team still in the process of hiring and formal systems not yet in place, maintaining brand consistency became a critical challenge. This is where external expertise, including LITSTILL, was essential to ensure all visual materials adhered to the brand's identity.

1. Client Overview & Project Goals

Jumbo Supermarkets, with over 700 locations across the Netherlands, is the country's largest supermarket chain. As Jumbo aimed to streamline its marketing processes, they decided to develop an in-house design team, ‘Buro Jumbo,’ to manage all design and marketing materials. Previously outsourced, this approach proved too costly and inefficient. However, as Buro Jumbo was still hiring and lacked the technical skills to fully meet their high brand standards, LITSTILL was brought on board as external expertise. Our goal was to help build the team, establish effective design processes, and create high-quality marketing content, including bi-weekly campaigns, weekly promotional brochures, and various in-store and outdoor advertising materials.

2. Challenges & Our Approach

The main challenge was to maintain Jumbo’s high branding standards while Buro Jumbo was still in its formative stages. With limited in-house designers and technical expertise, there was significant pressure to deliver consistent, impactful marketing materials on a tight schedule. LITSTILL approached these challenges by implementing structured workflows and best practices, ensuring that all design work adhered to Jumbo’s established brand guidelines. We worked closely with Jumbo’s team to not only produce high-quality content but also train their in-house staff, fostering a culture of collaboration and skill development.

3. Excecution, Results & Impact

LITSTILL’s involvement was instrumental in ensuring the seamless delivery of marketing campaigns, from bi-weekly initiatives to weekly promotional brochures that reached households nationwide. We managed production timelines efficiently, ensuring all materials were created, reviewed, and delivered on schedule. This collaboration resulted in stronger brand cohesion across campaigns, improved customer engagement, and positive feedback from both Jumbo’s internal team and their customer base. Through this partnership, LITSTILL played a key role in establishing the foundation for Buro Jumbo’s future growth and success.
